Turmeric Ginger Lemonade

A favorite warm-weather drink just got an anti-inflammatory makeover

Equipment

  • Cocktail shaker or jar with lid

Ingredients

  • juice from 1/2 a lemon (about 1/4 cup)
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • pinch of black pepper*
  • 2-3 slices fresh ginger
  • 1/2 Tbsp liquid sweetener, such as maple syrup or agave (I used maple syrup)
  • 1 1/2 cups filtered water
  • ice for serving
  • optional boosters: pinch of cayenne pepper, fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients into a cocktail shaker or jar with a lid. Cover and shake well for about 10-20 seconds.
  • Pour into a glass filled with ice, sit back, and enjoy sipping!

Notes

*Black pepper may sound like a weird ingredient for lemonade, but its almost necessary. Black pepper actually helps your body absorb the curcumin in the turmeric!
